Teeth may need to be removed for any number of reasons:

• Dental caries (cavities)

• Pulpal necrosis or injury (dead or injured nerve)

• Periodontal disease

• Non-restorability

• Non-functional (poor position)

• Interferes with oral rehabilitation plan

Extraction plans may range from single tooth extraction to removal of all remaining teeth for implant rehabilitation.  Removal of one or two teeth can typically be done with local anesthesia, while general anesthesia will be recommended for removal three or more teeth or impacted teeth.
